800HP Dream Giveaway Chevys Make the Cover of Hot Rod
When Hot Rod, the world’s longest running car magazine, features your pride and joy, it’s a dream come true, right? So that makes the magazine’s milestone story on Dream Giveaway’s 800hp grand-prize Corvette and Camaro—in a heads up drag race, no less—the memory of a lifetime. Here’s how it all came together.
Last month in Shiftin’ Gears, we reported that the Camaro and Corvette Dream Giveaway grand-prize cars were displayed at the biggest auto shows this year. That gave us an idea. How would these lickity-split land rockets compete against each other on a closed-to-the-public quarter-mile strip? Hot Rod’s editor Evan Perkins liked the idea, and before you know it, both grand-prize cars were outfitted with Nitto Tires drag radials, loaded in an enclosed trailer, and headed down from Detroit to Tampa for a day of blazing hot sun and blazing quick quarter-mile times.
We won’t give the results away, but we’ll tell you that both cars performed at their asphalt-kicking best. For more details, you’ll have to see the feature story in print (or online). The full story and 45 amazing photos can be seen online at http://www.hotrod.com/articles/drag-testing-pair-800hp-lingenfelter-chevrolets/ and on the newsstands in Hot Rod magazine in August.
ON THE ROAD: 40th Anniversary Smokey and the Bandit Celebration
It’s been 40 years since Burt Reynolds donned his Stetson cowboy hat to outrun a Texas county mounty in the good ole’ boy movie Smokey and the Bandit. On June 22, 2017, Bandit fans from across the world swarmed the friendly, southern town of Jonesboro, Georgia (That’s where much of Smokey and the Bandit was filmed!) to celebrate all things Bandit and watch a re-creation of the famous bridge jump in the movie.
Dream Giveaway Garage was on hand with the grand prize of the 2017 Bandit Dream Giveaway—a 1977 Trans Am Special Edition made famous by Mr. Reynolds.
Our location was the corner of Lee and Smith Street in Jonesboro, at Lee Street Park, which was the site of the football field scene in Smokey and the Bandit, and has since been converted to a modern downtown park.
Despite a rainy Saturday morning, Bandit fans were out in full force to get up close and personal with our grand-prize Bandit Trans Am. As a special gift to fans who donated $100 or more to enter to win the Bandit, we gave autographed 8x10-inch slicks of Mr. Reynolds.
We still have a very limited supply of Mr. Reynolds’ autographs to give to generous donors. If you want yours, go to winthebandit.com, use promo code PHOTO2 and donate $100 or more. You’ll get double tickets on this giveaway ending very soon on August 29, 2017, and we’ll mail you an autographed photo of Burt Reynolds with a certificate of authenticity. Now that’s something worth putting the pedal to the metal for.

Winner Spotlight: Supercar Dream Giveaway
Most folks can only dream of owning an exotic Lamborghini, so when we called Army National Guard Sergeant Ron Sylvain and told him he was the grand-prize winner of our recent Supercar Dream Giveaway, he couldn’t wait to hop on a plane to Clearwater, Florida, to collect his grand-prize.
Dream Giveaway Garage recently checked in with Sylvain to see what fun he’s been having with his grand-prize 560-4 Gallardo Spyder, which retailed new for over $300,000. Here’s what he had to say: “I have taken the Lamborghini out a few times now and I have really enjoyed driving it. I recently took it to an old classic car show and the car got a lot of great reactions from people there.”
Your chance to enter to win seven amazing Dream Giveaways is going on right now; including the world’s only pair of GT350X Mustangs, Corvettes, or Camaros, a Bandit Trans Am personalized by Hollywood legend Burt Reynolds, a fully-restored 1970 SS396 Chevelle or a $10,000 gift card to Amazon.com.
Will you be the next big Dream Giveaway winner?
Charity Spotlight: New Beginning Children’s Homes
New Beginning Children’s Homes, the sponsor of all 2017 Dream Giveaways, is a non-profit organization, which provides long-term residential care in a family-style environment to children who have been abandoned, abused or neglected.
Shiftin’ Gears recently sat down with the charity’s founder Ken Fergusen to discuss how your donations make a dramatic difference in the non-profit’s mission. “At NBCH we believe in the right for every child to be loved, regardless of the situation they have come from,” Fergusen says. “We provide the children a safe, loving, faith-centered family atmosphere where they can heal, grow, and be loved. Our goal is to find a loving ‘forever family’ to hopefully adopt these children and provide a safe and loving home and environment. Our single family homes also allow sibling groups to stay together rather than be split up, if at all possible, during these difficult times in their lives.”
New Beginning Children’s Homes’ premier site in Benton County, Arkansas, spans over 10-acres of land and is home to 54 children; placed within six separate homes. This site also houses the New Beginning Learning Academy, in addition to a calf, chicken, and sustainability garden.
In the Fall of 2017 NBCH will open its second residential site, located in Sebastian County, Arkansas. This site consists of 68 beautiful acres and will ultimately house 100 children on any given night.
“Thank you Dream Giveaway for helping us to carry out our mission,” Fergusen says. Visit www.dreamgiveaway.com today and make a donation to enter to win some amazing prize packages and help New Beginning Children’s Homes help children in need.
