Back in the day, putting 1,500-plus horsepower in your garage meant owning a pretty big garage. Not any more. Our Mustang Dream Giveaway manages to horseshoe 1,500 ponies into two amazing Mustangs. We recently travelled to Powertek Performance in St. Petersburg, Florida, to quantify the horsepower of the brand-new 1965 G.T. 350X. Keep reading to find out how much horsepower it made at the rear wheels.

Advertised horsepower is measured at the crank. To determine it, we strapped the grand-prize Mustang up to the dyno rollers and let ’er rip. We made two back to back passes with a best pass showing 606 hp AT THE REAR WHEELS.

Factoring in drivetrain loss of 18%, that means this brand-new 1965 Mustang makes an estimated 714 horsepower at the crank. Wow! Our guess is that Ford underrated the horsepower on both the 5.2-liter V-8 and supercharger in this grand-prize Mustang and that’s just fine with us.

You’ll be feeling fine when you bring both of these street-scorching Mustangs home but you’ve got to hurry. There are only days left to enter the Mustang Dream Giveaway and time is running out.

Remember, when you enter and win, you’ll join us here in Clearwater, Florida to be handed the keys to the brand-new 1965 Shelby G.T. 350X and the matching 2017 Shelby GT350X. They’re the only matching pair of GT350X Mustangs in the world.

2016 Mustang Dream Giveaway

How long would it take you to spend $10,000 at Amazon.com? One minute? One month? One year? That’s our question to readers this month as part of our 2018 Shopping Spree Dream Giveaway. The grand-prize is a $10,000 gift card to Amazon.com.

We thought it would take us at least a week to blow through $10,000, but then we typed in “tool set” and found a Mobile-Shop MS-CPMC Tool Set at $9765. That would leave us a couple hundred smackaroos to send Smokey and the Bandit DVDs to our friends.

How about you? How would you spend your $10,000 Amazon gift card? To help you decide, we’ll give a $25 Amazon gift card to one random Shiftin’ Gears subscriber who sends us their answer to editor@dreamgiveaway.com.

Remember, the $10,000 Amazon gift card doesn’t expire, so you can take as long as you want to cash it in. Now all you have to do is enter to win.

Winner Spotlight: Family Fun Dream Giveaway®

Would your next vacation be a game-changer if it was all-expenses paid? We sure think so and so does Dan Bunting of Ohio, the latest welcome to Dream Giveaway’s winner circle.

Dan scored a $10K all-inclusive trip for four people to Disney World in Kissimmee, Florida, along with $2,500 of spending money. It was the grand prize in the Family Fun Dream Giveaway.

Now Dan wants to share his winning prize strategy with Shiftin’ Gears subscribers. “I think it was on social media. I saw the Corvettes. My mom has always loved Corvettes and I thought: If I could win a Corvette, that would be great for her. I had some extra money [to donate], so I put in for the Challenger. My niece and nephew would like Disney World, so I put in a few [entries] for it.”

Ames is one of the oldest and most distinguished classic parts suppliers in the muscle car industry. In business for over 40 years, the company has grown from distributing new old stock parts via local swap meets to becoming the nation’s largest supplier of classic Pontiac parts.

Enthusiasts themselves, the company is actively involved in the hobby 365 days a year, including attendance at 13 major swap meets and sponsoring 75 Pontiac club shows and events, including its principal sponsorship of the Ames Performance Pontiac Tri-Power Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio.

Through the years, the company has dutifully remained the only exclusive Pontiac restoration and performance parts supplier. Their mission statement—to supply the customer with the best product always at fair prices and backed by the best warranty and customer service in the industry.

Parts distribution isn’t the only game either. Ames Performance also manufactures more than 400 of its own quality products, testing and assembling many more under their own roof which enables a superior level of quality control and technically savoy sales associates.

Charity Spotlight: Honor Flight of West Central Florida

Dream Giveaway is pleased to announce Honor Flight of West Central Florida as our newest grant recipient. We asked this worthy organization to share with us the story of an amazing veteran it will include him on Mission 33 to Washington, D.C. this year.

“George Washburn, a 94-year-young WWII Veteran was a B24 Liberator pilot from July to December, 1944. Cadet training began when he was 19 years old and soon after completion he became a co-pilot flying 19 missions over Europe. He then became a lead pilot with his own crew and successfully completed 16 bombing missions. His planes were damaged by flying shrapnel during the bombing runs but the crews were successful in landing each plane back at base in England.

“Many folks have asked him about flying the Liberator and his response is, ‘If you can drive horses, you can fly the Liberator.’   Mr. Washburn grew up on a farm and many of those life lessons and skills carried over to his military service.

“He talks fondly of his radio operator who is the only surviving member of his crew who is four months older him.  They still debate as to who should call each other ‘Sir.’ Is it age or rank?

“Mr. Washburn still remembers the spirit and pride that the airman shared and how they encouraged each other to keep morale high.  He returned to the states at the age of 20 and is very humble about his service to our country. Honor Flight of West Central Florida is honored to have Mr. Washburn flying on Mission 33 and receiving the recognition he so duly deserves.

Mission #33 for Honor Flight of West Central Florida will fly on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, thanks in part to your generous support of Dream Giveaway. The mission honors 76 veterans from WWII, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era. During this one-day trip, veterans will have the opportunity to visit and reflect at the WWII Memorial, the Korean Memorial and the Vietnam Memorial – all created to honor their service to our country.

Providing this trip to Washington, D.C. is Honor Flights’ way of thanking our nation’s heroes – our veterans. For many, this thank you is long overdue.
