“I tell people that I won and they are amazed and happy for me. It’s awesome to share the news.”
Those are the words right from the mouth of Michael Ingebrigtsen of New York, the grand-prize winner in the Bandit Dream Giveaway. Michael, an electrical contractor, is now cruising Long Island’s highways and backroads in a 37,000-mile 1979 Pontiac Trans Am Special Edition autographed by Smokey and the Bandit star Burt Reynolds. That’s not too bad just for helping out eight great charities, huh?
“It’s funny because I entered multiple giveaways I completely forgot about it,” Michael said. “So, when I received the phone call I wasn’t sure what to expect or which [sweepstakes] was over. It was a nice surprise to find out I won and then another surprise to find out which [sweepstakes] it actually was. [It was] a nice double whammy.”
Here’s some great words of wisdom for you from this very-thankful winner. “Go for it. You are helping out people in need through the different charities. you never know — you might wake up with a new car in your driveway.”

Every time you enter to win the world’s most fantastic prize packages at DreamGiveaway.com, your tax-deductible donation benefits New Beginning Children’s Homes, a nonprofit that builds, manages and maintains children and youth foster homes. This month we check in with this sponsor charity and ask them to share a recent success stories of one of its residents, a young woman named Yasmin.
At New Beginning Children’s Homes, we love seeing the growth and accomplishment of our residents and Yasmin is a great example of that. She came to us from living on the streets during the day and staying at a shelter at night. She was taken from her parent at a young age and was adopted from foster care at the age of five. By the time she was a high-school freshman, she was out on her own. She was able to complete high school and graduated just shortly after entering our program at New Beginning Youth Homes.
In her relatively short time here, Yasmin has been experiencing growth in her personal life through life-skill classes teaching her everything from cooking for herself, managing the care of her personal space, to budgeting and managing her own finances. She’s also learning to better communicate and interact with others. Through the program, she has been recognizing areas in her life that she needs to work on and become stronger in as she strives to become the successful, self-supporting young lady God has designed her to be. She receives daily encouragement and mentorship through the staff here at New Beginning and especially from the house mentors she lives with.
In just the last couple of months, Yasmin has been able to go to school to get her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training, finishing her course work well, and now is employed at a local nursing-care facility. We are excited to see her accomplish her goals as she enters into the nursing field that will undoubtably give her a long-lasting career as she pushes forward toward becoming a nurse. She is working at using all the resources available to her here at New Beginning. While it has not always been easy for her, she is moving forward and making strides in our program and we cannot wait to watch her as she continues to grow and accomplish more and more.
Visit www.dreamgiveaway.com today and make a heartfelt donation to enter to win some amazing prize packages. When you do so, you’ll be helping New Beginning prepare children and young adults for a world in which they can be productive and responsible adults.
As the weather changes and fall sets in, many enthusiasts plan for putting their ride away for the winter months. It is also a time where many begin tackling a new project, to get it finished for next year’s show season. Whether you are preparing to winterize your current ride or tackle a new project, Eastwood is offering Free standard shipping on orders over $99 within the Contiguous US for Shiftin’ Gears readers. Click here to receive Free Shipping on your Eastwood order now through 9/30/20 – click here.
To get you on your way to winterizing your ride, here are a few of our tips for successful storage.
During storage, rodents can cause all sorts of problems. As we prepare our vehicles for storage, we cover all openings where mice could get with plastic bags and rubber bands (this includes tailpipes, air cleaner ends, etc.). Another trick is to place a scented dryer sheet on top of each tire and a few on the floor. Not only does this keep the interior smelling fresh, but mice dislike the scent and usually stay away.
Long term storage can cause issues with your car’s battery. We recommend a battery disconnect switch and putting a Battery Maintainer on to keep your battery in a charged status. Nothing is worse than having a dead battery on one of those rare warm Winter days.
Before you put your car away, putting a quality car cover on will keep dirt and dust off and will help protect the paint while it is in storage. Our indoor car covers are one of the items we always include in our prize packages for the Dream Giveaway vehicles!
