Every month, Dream Giveaway Garage brings you a behind-the-scenes look at Dream Giveaway® grand-prizes, the charities that benefit from your donation, the companies that help us build the grand-prize cars, and the lucky winners!
Happy 50th Anniversary: Chevrolet Camaro
For only the third time in Dream Giveaway history, we are giving away the ultimate pair of high-performance Camaros. This time it is to help Chevrolet celebrate 50 years of Camaro high-performance legacy.
Caught entirely by surprise by the phenomenal success of the Ford Mustang in April 1964, General Motors fast-tracked a new-vehicle development program for the youth market. It would take 2 1/2 years to bring it to fruition. Once released in September 1966 as a 1967 model, the Camaro roared off the factory line ready to go head to head against Mustang in every town in America. That fierce rivalry, 50 years running, is still going strong today.
So to help Chevrolet celebrate the 50th anniversary of its most famous muscle car, Dream Giveaway is pulling out all the stops by offering a fully restored, first-of-the-breed Camaro with the best of old-school cool and big-dollar restomod upgrades that make driving really, really fun.
This classic Camaro has it all- looks, performance and comfort. Under the hood, you’ll find a chromed-out 396ci Chevy big-block surrounded by a sea of polished aluminum and billet steel.
Inside the cabin, you’ll find a five-speed-overdrive manual transmission, a Vintage Air climate control system and TMI Sport bucket seats (our favorite option!). At all four corners, you’ll find modern billet wheels, wide rubber, and responsive four-wheel disc brakes.
The second half of the grand-prize continues Camaro’s all-America legacy for the next 50 years. We’re talking a new 2017 Camaro ZL1 with 800 horsepower. This land-rocket is the very first (Serial #001) of a new limited edition of Super-Camaros built by Lingenfelter Performance Engineering with styling by Dream Giveaway Garage.
One lucky winner will be flown to Clearwater, Florida, to accept the keys to both legendary Camaros in the 2017 Camaro Dream Giveaway, plus we’ll pay $35,000 for the taxes.

40th Anniversary: Smokey and the Bandit
Time flies when you’re putting the pedal to the metal. So raise your hand if you find it hard to believe that the classic, good-old-boy car-chase film, Smokey and the Bandit, turns 40 years old this month.
You may not know it, but Smokey and the Bandit was poorly received by audiences when it premiered. You see, the wise guys at Universal Pictures weren’t very confident in the Bandit, the Snowman, and Sheriff Buford T. Justice and chose to stage the film premiere at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall on May 19, 1977. You can guess what happened. The critics hated it. Director Hal Needham was furious.
“I didn’t agree with them putting it in Radio City Music Hall, but I couldn’t stop them,” Needham told interviewer Tom Demauro. “It didn’t make enough money to pay the dancers. [The studio] pulled it out in a week or two and said, ‘What are we going to do with it?’ ”
“I said, ‘Take the thing down South.’ I made it for the South, the Midwest and the Northwest. Not Philadelphia, New York or San Francisco. They took it down South and it went through the roof. It set all kinds of records. Then they took it back to New York and it set all kinds of records there. Once it went down South, we couldn’t count the money fast enough.”
So are you ready to head eastbound and down in Burt Reynolds’ famous Trans Am?
Winner Spotlight: Mustang Dream Giveaway
Do you remember the old saying, “Persistence pays off.” That could very well be the new motto of lucky Tony Cotterman, who scored two matching Shelby Mustangs in the most recent Mustang Dream Giveaway.
Cotterman first entered the Mustang Dream Giveaway in 2010 (the very first one) and he has entered every year since, having a lucky feeling that someday he’d be the grand-prize winner. That hunch came true in March 2017, when we reached his wife on their home phone and surprised her with the fantasic news. Mr. Cotterman, who was at the hospital when we made the winner’s call, was in utter disbelief when his wife told him, that is until he went to our website and saw his name and lucky ticket number listed as the grand-prize winner.
“I’m ecstatic with the way my luck changed,” Cotterman told Dream Giveaway’s Kim Meyers this week. “I have had a chance to ride in both Mustangs and if I had to choose my favorite it would be the 2016. That is a really nice car.”
Your chance to enter to win two ground-pounding Shelby Mustangs in the 2017 Mustang Dream Giveaway fires up on May 26, 2017. Here’s a teaser for you: One of our new giveaway Shelbys has 620 horsepower and the other has 825 horsepower. Check online often as we will be announcing the full details on both Shelby Mustangs very, very soon.
Will you be the next big Dream Giveaway winner?
Accepting the grand-prize package on behalf of winner Tony Cotterman is his brother-in-law George Mason, shown here.
